Taylor Swift donates over $30,000 to help a London teenager

American Pop Star Taylor Swift donates over $30,000 to an aspiring mathematician to afford her study at top university in the U.K.

Pop star Taylor Swift donates over $30,000 to a student to go to the U.K. University, The University of Warwick, a prestigious university is ranked among the top 10 Universities in the U.K. for 2021, according to topuniversities.com.

Vitoria Mario was trying to raise funds to afford to study Maths at the University of Warwick. Mario set up the donation page GoFundMe, as she was not eligible for the University’s loans and grants. On her page, she mentioned that she had achieved high grades in her A-level exams, equivalent to SATs in the United States.

Swift on the fundraising page said,
Vitoria, I came across your story online and am so inspired by your drive and dedication to turning your dreams into reality,” the 30-year-old singer wrote. “I want to gift you the rest of your goal amount. Good luck with everything you do! Love, Taylor.

Mario contacted 442 people of the top firms for financial assistance but was rejected or left with no response. Hence, she set up a fundraising page. This is what caught attention, and news of Taylor Swift donates over $30,000 to her is taking rounds since then. When Mario arrived in London, she could not speak English but had achieved top grades in exams. On her fundraising page, she has mentioned a breakdown of the funds she will need for accommodation, equipments, and living costs, including transportation, food and gas.

Mario was a student at London’s Brampton Manor Academy. She said, “The school is renowned for their work in helping young Black and minority ethnic students such as myself gain entry to top U.K. institutions.”

Following the norm, Taylor Swift’s fans also started donating to her GoFundMe campaign. In an interview, Mario thanked Taylor Swift and said the donation was a blessing, and she would like to thank everyone who donated and supported her campaign.

This is not the first time Taylor Swift has donated money to any such cause. She has also made impromptu donations to her fans in the past. In June 2020, she helped two Minneapolis teens fundraisers looking for support to buy hair care and skin products for people of color. She also donated money to Nashville record store Grimey’s New to provide healthcare services to its employees.

We often ignore donation drives like this, assuming it can be a fraud or some cyber trap. However, the recent news of Taylor Swift donates over $30000 has set an example to help the genuine people in need. Her donation to Vitoria Mario will help bring the dreams of an aspiring mathematician to reality. Her story can also inspire others to accomplish their dreams, irrespective of gender, race, immigration issues, and financial status.
