The trend of layoffs and temporary pay cuts came up when the country was approaching the end of the third phase of the nationwide lockdown, to curb the spread of the coronavirus. It also forced many businesses to reduce their workforce. Things have now started to take a U-Turn as Zomato, Grofers, and upGrad begin to restore salaries of its employees.

Many Indian startups, specifically Zomato, Grofers, and upGrad who are big names in online food delivery, grocery business, and online learning platforms are slowly getting back to the normal and looking to pay back their employees. Even during the three-month lock-up period, they tried their best to provide employees with additional share options & increments instead of wage cuts.

upGrad’s co-founder and MD Mayank Kumar said the firm decided to refund 100% of the amount deducted earlier due to the cash crunch caused by COVID-19 and the resulting lockdown. Besides, the company has also extended its work from home to the end of this year.

MD Mayank Kumar further said,

Keeping everyone’s well-being in mind, we declared work from home till December 31, 2020, and we won’t be opening our office even if the situation betters now, as we want employees to be relieved of this constant uncertainty.

Many other startups have offered additional ESOPs (employee stock options) from the founders’ shares in their businesses. Online grocery company Grofers is increasing the scale of its ESOP pool for an additional $25 million. The rise will be part of a new funding campaign, where the online retailer plans to raise $60-70 million.

Albinder Dhindsa, Chief Executive of Grofers in an interview, said that

WHEN COVID-19 PANDEMIC HIT, WE ASKED EMPLOYEES TO VOLUNTARILY TAKE PAY CUTS AND COMPENSATED THEM WITH ADDITIONAL ESOPS; 150 EMPLOYEES SIGNED UP IN APRIL. IN TOTAL, 600 PEOPLE CAME INTO THE FOLD, AND WE INCREASED THE ESOPS POOL, WHICH CURRENTLY STANDS AT 11.4%.

At this point when the Indian economy has slowly begun to open, under strict regulations, startups like Zomato, Grofers and upGrad have started to reinstitute salaries that have been reduced in the April-June period. It was also reported that during that time, many startups had issued additional employee stock options to compensate for salary cuts during the economic crisis.

Sonu Sood’s Pravasi Rojgar initiative

On May 9, Sonu Sood, along with his childhood friend Niti Goel were distributing food to workers and discovered that migrants are leaving Mumbai due to loss of jobs during the lockdown. He then took permission from various state authorities, arranged the first batch of the bus within 48 hours, and successfully sent back 300 migrant workers. Recently, he also arranged an AirAsia flight to send back 180 migrants to Assam. Taking a step ahead to help migrant workers, Sonu Sood’s Pravasi Rojgar will create job opportunities for them.

Talking about his motivation behind the initiative, he said,

Seeing their struggle reminds me of my own here as an actor. It was difficult initially for me. When I see them, I can recollect my journey.

Hailed as migrant’s superhero, Sonu Sood’s Pravasi Rojgar promises to provide jobs to migrant workers who have lost their jobs. His platform has tied up with Learnet Skills, a joint venture between Schoolnet India and National Skill Development Corporation. The portal received 50,000 migrant requests in the first 24 hours of its launch and demand of more than 1 Lakh jobs from the employers.

On his 47th birthday, he tweeted, Pravasi Rojgar initiative aims to provide jobs to 2 Cr youth in the next five years. With no defined parameters, anyone who is migrant, college, school pass-outs, and dropouts can register to acquire entry-level jobs in the manufacturing and service sectors. The platform aims to bridge the gap between unemployed and more than 450 employers on board to find their skilled workers. In addition to this, candidates in need of jobs will get career counseling and skill training if needed to leverage their profile. Some of the top leading employers who have committed to the cause are Amazon, Flipkart, Sodexo, Max Healthcare, Urban Company, Silver Spark, Welspun India, JBM Group, and Portea.

In a recent interview, Sonu said:

Every time I sent someone home, they would tell me we will come back if we get work. They would call me from their villages and say ‘sir please help in getting a job. I realized that there was a gap in their skill sets and the jobs that were available. Most of them did not have access to information on jobs either.

He has partnered with community-based organizations, leading skill development organizations, Common Service Centres, Philanthropic Organizations, Government Bodies, Strategy Consultants, and Technology startups.

Sonu Sood plays the role of a villain on the big screen but with his recent acts of kindness has proved that he is a hero in real life. He has also received much appreciation from prominent political leaders of India, and celebrities. With more than 40 million migrant laborers in the country, small initiatives by influential personalities can bring the difference in society and Sonu Sood’s Pravasi Rojgar is one such example.

AI over digital marketing

Artificial intelligence is bringing continuous transformation in digital strategies from collecting data to analyzing and implementing it. In a way, the capabilities of using AI to improve marketing strategies and get valuable customer insights for companies have grown exponentially. AI over digital marketing has several opportunities.

It has become easy for marketers to provide real-time customer support with AI-powered chatbots capable of simulating a human conversation. Most marketing companies save human resources by capitalizing on chatbots, which also reduces bounce rates.

Amazon has become a global leader in customer experience through innovation. It successfully leverages AI and machine learning technology to know its consumer’s behavior for marketing products.

Jeff Bezos understood the potential of AI for a long time and saw it as an ‘enabler’ that will empower and improve every business, every government organization, every philanthropy — basically there’s no institution in the world that cannot be improved with machine learning. He mentioned:

A lot of the value that we’re getting from machine learning is actually happening beneath the surface. It is things like improved search results, improved product recommendations for customers, improved forecasting for inventory management. Literally hundreds of other things beneath the surface.

According to a report by MarketsandMarkets, the marketing automation market is expected to grow to USD 6.4 billion by 2024. Major factors driving the growth of market automation are the growing demands of automated marketing processes, increased need for informed marketing strategy, maximizing engagements, and making an informed strategy.

AI over digital marketing
AI over digital marketing

With the increasing demand of tech-based products and quick turnaround time, AI will continue to play a significant role in identifying marketing trends to help with personalized marketing strategies.

AI is probably the most important thing humanity has ever worked on. I think of it as something more profound than electricity or fire. AI offers a different construct. Things which are constraint and look like a zero-game today may not be so in the future. AI can fundamentally change equations. – Sundar Pichai shared his thoughts on World Economic Forum

AI will assist digital marketers with their campaigns as well. AI is already widely used in digital marketing campaigns for many compelling reasons. Some of them are improved customer experience, increased efficiency, broad customer reach and retention, enhanced platform integration, to name a few. Gaining an understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning, every business or marketer can improve their decision-making process.

Artificial intelligence has transformed since its inception. World’s biggest tech companies are in a race to become AI leaders. From Google to Alibaba, these companies are embracing AI to provide next-level digital products.

AI has a remarkable impact on all areas of digital marketing that only seems to grow. Everything is moving at a higher speed. There is a data abundance for all digital marketers to gain insights into their customers.

The future of all digital marketers is here, and only early adopters will win. AI is only here to unleash true strategic and creative potential. We should embrace its benefits and see a new era of profitability, efficiency, and productivity. So, the question is for you – AI over digital marketing? Will you adopt or not?

Top 5 iOS 14 features to look out for

Top 5 iOS 14 features

Over-the-air updates were first introduced in Apple’s products back in iOS 5. Ever since then, Apple has been continuously working on providing the latest updates time and again. Apple released the 14th public beta 3 version of their operating system recently, bringing along a lot of excitement and expectations. Here is a compiled list of the top 5 iOS 14 features that will simplify your life.

Living up to its founder’s dream, Apple has managed to deliver a smart and easy-to-use device.

What we want to do is make a leapfrog product that is way smarter than any mobile device has ever been, and super easy to use. -Steve Jobs at the iPhone debut in 2007

Until before iOS 14, almost all apps on the iPhone required exact precise locations for working efficiently. This has raised severe data and security concerns over the last few years. The iOS 14 now has an approximate location detector that does not give your precise location to the retail store app on your phone, and instead works on approximate location detector algorithms. It’s such a great feature that it is worth counting in the top 5 iOS 14 features list.

The second feature that bags to the top 5 iOS 14 features list is the “Limited Photo Library Access.” Before this update, all relevant apps had access to the photos in your iPhone, jeopardizing the user’s security and privacy. The iOS 14 update comes with a swipe control to enable or disable the Limited Photo Library access feature.

Upon enabling the feature, the user gets to select handpicked photos that do not compromise their security. This photo library can then be updated by the user as and when required. The camera and microphone tracking controls find its way in our top 5 iOS 14 features list too. Enabled in the latest iOS 14 version, it comes as a rescue from the data breach.

Speculations say that most retail apps on the iPhone usually have access to microphone and camera, thereby monitoring user’s preferences and wish lists. This data helps them curate a personalized recommendation list for every user, and show ads based on what they hear. The iOS 14 comes with a tracking control system which notifies whenever any of the apps on your phone are accessing these features.

Apple has also given its home screen layout a significant overhaul. With the new iOS version coming out, Apple Inc. has shown their belief in helping users experience a more flexible technology.

The option to add widgets to the home screen is something iPhone users are excited to know. Even though Widgets have been available in Android, the sizing and location flexibility has been missing. Apple has worked on it and now promises to provide flexibility in these features. The Smart Stack feature in iOS 14 lets you cycle the main widget, depending on the days’ time.

Another important update is the App Library. The App library feature is Apple’s way of organizing apps in big boxes, storing them in Alphabetical orders, and helping users organize their phones much neatly. If a user doesn’t want to access it, the screen layout can be kept as it is, ignoring App Library forever.

To simplify the user interface, Apple has introduced Picture-in-picture (PiP). It is one of the most sought-after features in the iOS 14 version. It creates a thumbnail image of the video if it needs to be minimized to check other important screens. The best part is that you can even keep a facetime conversation going on and order a meal simultaneously. Androids have been using PiP for a while now, but Apple has improved it even more. Androids have a preset PiP scale.

The positioning of the thumbnail on an Android is restricted to certain docking zones on the screen only. The Pinch to zoom feature in iOS 14 gives you the flexibility to scale the thumbnail as per your requirements, which is usually not the case in Androids. The update also allows you to continue playing a video in full screen, in the event of which it can be hidden by swiping it off the side where it docks, leaving a tab to pull when needed again. PiP in the iPhone deserves a rank in our top 5 iOS 14 features list, and we know you’d love it too.

There’s much more to experience than these top 5 iOS 14 features. Apple always manages to stick to its vision of providing great products, and they’re not stopping anytime soon. The iOS 14 is just another feather in the cap.

One year countdown for Olympics 2021

Olympics 2021

The Tokyo 2021 Olympics are scheduled to start from July 23, 2021 and is still a year away. A small 15-minute ceremony was held at the new stadium to reset the clock and mark the start date of the 2021 Olympics. Thomas Bach, IOC President, is hopeful of conducting the event amidst the pandemic, ensuring health and safety of all the contestants and said to BBC Sport:

We are working for a solution which on the one hand is safeguarding the health of all the participants and on the other hand is also reflecting the Olympic spirit.

At the professional sports level, multiple sporting events have already resumed their activities behind closed doors. The big sporting leagues like English Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A are on the verge of completion too. On the other hand, football is also gearing up for the Champions League and Europa League to take place in August. These things make the IOC confident of holding the Olympics in 2021 on a large scale.

Despite a spike in COVID-19 cases in the US and few other countries, the cases have started to decline in other parts of the globe. The IOC is hoping it will further subside as the event is still 12 months away and is ready to look for all countermeasures.

Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori commented,

Following the decision to postpone the Games, Tokyo 2020 immediately formed the New Launch Task Force and began to organize systems ready to face this unprecedented challenge. Our staff has been working tirelessly around the clock on these preparations, and it is my pleasure to announce today that we have successfully secured all venues and confirmed the competition schedule for next year’s Games.

On the other hand, IOC has postponed the Youth Olympics of 2022 to 2026, which was to be held in Senegal. He said that this move is to overcome the financial crisis and global health crisis.

Fans are the heart and soul of any sport. No matter what, without fans in the stadium, the game will be dull and boring. Thomas Bach reiterated that the IOC is looking to have fans in the stadium rather than conducting it behind closed doors. The IOC is all set to take different measures to hold the 2021 Olympics. More details will be shared by them in the coming months.

Many players are set for their swansong. Many bright talents are waiting for their first chance to showcase on the big platform. The cancellation of the event will be a colossal blow for them. However, with the vaccine development at its full swing, one can expect that there are possibilities of Olympics being held in 2021.

Despite the pandemic ruining the plans, Thomas Bach is confident and reiterated his stance to conduct the Olympics 2021. IOC has planned meticulously and is looking forward to holding the event in Tokyo.

Apple’s new production hub in Chennai boosts Make in India initiative

Iphone production boosts Make in India initiative

The report of the localization of Apple iPhone 11’s production comes within weeks of the news that suggested Foxconn, the Taiwanese contract manufacturer, is planning to invest a staggering $1 billion in its production facility outside of Chennai. It is currently using this facility to assemble iPhones from the parts collected from various sources, especially from countries outside of India.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced the news on Twitter. Goyal wrote,

Significant boost to Make in India! Apple has started manufacturing iPhone 11 in India, bringing a top-of-the-line model for the first time in the country.

Foxconn is the second Apple contract manufacturer that has acted upon creating or improving its presence in India in the recent past. Pegatron’s registration of a subsidiary in India can be again seen as a step to localize production by Apple. All these current events make sense as they are entirely in line with what the Indian government is trying to achieve with its Make in India initiative.

The investment from Foxconn and Apple’s move would mean reduced dependence on China for procuring parts to assemble these pricey phones that are huge favorites of consumers in India. The entire process, including the Foxconn investment to be used for building a state-of-the-art production facility, could take a few years to materialize. However, the announcement can be seen as a big push to the companies that are planning to build electronic products from scratch in India – making the country self-reliant and a boost to Make in India campaign.

In an interview with a local Indian news channel, Neil Shah, Vice President (Research) at Counterpoint, said,

With India’s labor cheaper compared with China, and the gradual expansion of its supplier base here, Apple will be able to use the country as an export hub.

If Apple iPhones are produced in India, it could save Apple more than 20% in import duty. Apple is also in talks to start the production of its newest model, iPhone SE, in its manufacturing plant in Bengaluru. This is the same production facility where the earlier version of the iPhone SE, which is no more in circulation, was built.

In its bid to welcome global players to set up their electronics manufacturing plans in different parts of the country, India brought its very own $6.65 billion plan. As part of this plan, India’s government will offer production linked incentives to five global manufacturers of smartphones to expand or set up production in India.

The recent growth in the localization of Apple’s production in India can also be seen as a way to benefit from GOI’s production linked incentive scheme. Another reason could be the existing relations between the US and China. Apple is slowly and steadily working towards moving bulk of its manufacturing from China to India, being mindful of the worsening of Sino-US ties.

The report of Foxconn planning to make a huge investment in its plant that is located a few kilometers outside of Chennai will take place in a phased manner in the next three years. In addition to boosting the Make in India initiative, Foxconn’s plan will also create 6,000 new jobs in Tamil Nadu. Foxconn already has a plant in Andhra Pradesh that is used for making smartphones for several brands, including the Xiaomi Corp of China.

This investment by Foxconn could be the first of many more to come. With investments from global manufacturers, India can also become an export center, creating more jobs and turning Make in India initiative a reality.

Neuralink will cure depression says Elon Musk

Elon Musk is always one step ahead of our perceptions, He goes above and beyond to impress our psyche, every time with a new innovation. His futuristic ventures have touched a new high yet again when he announced that his brain chip company Neuralink will cure depression.

The first thought that most of us had on receiving this news is, of course, incredulity. But Elon Musk is known both to share unbelievable ideas as well as deliver ambitious projects successfully.

The announcement posted on Twitter by Musk himself is being viewed with apprehension and excitement. In fact, Elon Musk himself says that the idea is scary but is determined for his company to reach its desired intent.

Elon Musk recently stunned the world with his impressive SpaceX launch, one of his many achievements. Similarly, Neuralink which was founded in 2016 had earlier made headlines with its efforts towards developing interfaces that make it possible to stream music from inside one’s brain.

Elon Musk affirmed a computer engineer’s speculation on Twitter about how Neuralink will cure depression by ‘re-training’ parts of the brain that give rise to these conditions.

He replied with the statement,

‘For sure. This is both great & terrifying’ Everything we’ve ever sensed or thought has been electrical signals.’

The astonishing fact is that Elon Musk is heavily hinting at a commercial release of the Neuralink implantable chips. This can be a breakthrough in the treatment of psychological illnesses that have no definitive cure.

So, the question is, how can Neuralink be effective in curing conditions like addiction and depression, among others? If perfected, the implanted Neuralink brain chip will directly converse with the brain without interacting with one’s senses. This direct contact can be used to retrain the synapses and reverse behaviors that give rise to the mind’s afflictions.

Talking about the fact that Elon Musk deemed this revolutionary technology scary, it seems like Neuralink is his attempt to counter the looming dangers of Artificial Intelligence, as he made clear several times.

According to Elon Musk, Neuralink will act as a bridge between AI and humanity, giving the former the much-needed human element without which its progression he claims is equivalent to ‘summoning the demon.’ There is hope that Neuralink will cure depression, and brain diseases such as Parkinson’s and may even be used to interact with other humans merely through thoughts.

Going back to his intriguing tweet,

Elon Musk reflected on how ‘Everything we’ve ever sensed or thought has been electrical signals. The early universe was just a soup of quarks & leptons. How did a very small piece of the Universe start to think of itself as sentient?’

This only goes to show the genius of Elon Musk and the impending reality of the brain to computer communication. Much has been said about Neuralink, but the details have remained shrouded in mystery until Musk’s latest tweets. It looks like the secrets are slowly unraveling.

Musk had earlier revealed in a podcast with Joe Rogan, how Neuralink would achieve brain implantation. He spoke about it, stating,

‘We would basically take out a chunk of your skull and put the Neuralink device in there. You insert the electrode threads very carefully in the brain, and then you stitch it. It would interface anywhere in the brain, and it could restore your eyesight and limb functionalities’.

The company is undoubtedly seeking to achieve the impossible by attempting to merge Artificial Intelligence and humans. More information on Neuralink will cure depression is awaited over the next months.

JIO Glass and its use in the Edutech arena

During its 43rd Annual General Meeting, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) announced its first smart glasses named JIO Glass. It’s based on Mixed Reality (MR) technology and Augmented Reality (AR). These glasses will be useful for users to attend holographic video calls from their homes. Technically, JIO Glass and its use will be available through a paired phone via wireless and cellular networks. Snapchat’s Snap Spectacles 3, which was recently launched in India, works in the same way. This goes to show that Reliance JIO is expanding its horizons to include next-gen technologies, such as cloud, 5G, and Virtual Reality (VR).

Mukesh Ambani-owned company did not reveal details about the product’s availability or pricing. But they did pitch JIO Glass and its use, including video calling, as a breakthrough in the Indian edutech market.

“JIO’s latest innovation, JIO Glass, is at the cutting edge of technology that provides best-in-class Mixed Reality services to give users a truly meaningful immersive experience,” – Kiran Thomas, President of Reliance Industries Limited

According to Reliance JIO, the new JIO Glass will let students and teachers conduct real-time holographic classes as it’s easier to understand a concept with 3D projections. For others, JIO Glass will be just another way of conducting and attending virtual meetings. But these meetings would become more interactive than usual. This is because the attendees can take part in such conferences using their 3D avatars. The participation will also be possible via the standard 2D video call interface.

During a video conference, the user will be able to see each avatar in front of her eyes. All avatars will be shown in the virtually created environment of a conference room, an office, or any other location. While in this virtual environment, the avatars can make presentations and even share files. For this, it doesn’t matter whether a participant is presently using a 2D or a 3D format.

Weighing 75 grams, JIO Glass will have 25 built-in apps to allow video meetings and online collaboration using Augmented Reality. These 25 applications will include JIO TV Plus, Reliance Digital, JIO Cinema, Jio Saavn, Funny Bunny, JIOCinema, Horse Cart, JIOMeet, to name a few. To power the smart glass, users will need to connect it to a smartphone with Wi-Fi or a cable.

The team of JIO Platforms, partnering with Google, is responsible for developing this marquee product. Not long ago, JIO Platforms had raised more than INR 33 crore from Google. Though it shares several similarities with Google Glass, it’s a lot bulkier than the latter.

People can utilize JIO Glass with multiple buttons, each of which is meant for a separate functionality. But most functions won’t need the use of buttons at all. Instead, the user can operate the smart glass with the help of voice commands.

Apart from the 25 apps mentioned earlier, it will have speakers supporting directional and spatial XR audio. Right above the bridge, between the two glass frames, sits a camera. This camera won’t just click photos; however, it can save the images to the paired smartphone, and upload them to a virtual meeting in real-time. To make video conferencing easier, the smart glass will have two microphones as well.

With schools across the country remaining shut due to the pandemic, edtech companies are investing in virtual classroom solutions. In the virtual demonstrations using JIO Glass, there will be no limit to the number of students attending an online class. Teachers can mark tests online and even take their students on virtual tours of significant places.
Such simulations will make it easier for students to understand complicated topics, making digital learning a step forward. JIO also plans to launch its own online education platform Embibe, which will be integrated with JIO glass.

So far, the adoption of mixed reality and Augmented reality has been limited. The latest JIO Glass and its use in the edutech industry is a step towards the invention of next-generation products.

Vernacular.ai is transforming customer experience with AI Bots

customer experience with AI Bots

Speaking to a customer care executive can be the most daunting and time-consuming aspect of customer support. While it’s important for businesses to manage call logs for an efficient system to handle the volume of calls they receive, customers feel it’s a waste of time. This had to change. Call centers have not until recently been conceived as a cradle of artificial intelligence-powered innovation until Vernacular.ai entered the industry to help enterprises boost their customer experience with AI Bots.

Vernacular.ai introduced a multilingual voice automation platform to help enterprises address customer queries. During the pandemic, the demand for its software-as-a-service (SaaS) product has risen exponentially. With increasing customer calls for support and complaints, during this time, this startup’s voice automation technology has helped incorporate artificial intelligence in handling them. It began with chatbots, but they later realized that to fulfill the gaps for a large-scale impact, shifting to a voice-assistant-based technology would be the best solution.

Big corporates are now using vernacular intelligent voice assistant or VIVA, their Vernacular.ai’s proprietary multilingual platform. These companies are looking to cut their costs (training and salaries) by better managing call volumes.

Co-founder and CEO Sourabh Gupta said,
“In order to cut cost, companies are pushing calls to interactive voice recognition (IVR), thus leaving no path for a user to reach an agent”

He also added, for a voice assistant platform, one has to solve problems in accents and dialects in geography like India, or else the product will not work.

The result is a platform that recognizes 10 Indian languages and helps companies improve loyalty and CSAT scores. VIVA can also understand different accents, as well.

The platform can also understand different customer traits like age and gender, among others. For example, the AI-Bot will read slowly to older people post recognizing age with their voice. It’s cutting edge technology has resulted in much shorter average call times for customers, handling of both regular and complex queries, eventually enhancing customer experience. It also aims to reduce the average call time to under a minute.

As every industry demands automation, Vernacula.ai is working with almost all the sectors, and they are looking forward to evolving customer experience with AI bot solution to the global enterprise market, with a targeted expansion into the Southeast Asian and American markets.

Sourabh Gupta said that “We’ve been able to figure out how to win the first few deals and build a strong foothold in the Indian market, and that’s something we’re already replicating in other geographies,”

With the changing needs of companies to manage high call traffic and fix technical issues in the absence of home visits, Vernacular.ai’s speech recognition platform is developed to upgrade customer experience with AI bots.

We have often seen celebrities raising awareness and funds for charitable institutions, but recently Selena Gomez took a step ahead and announced something notable. Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez announced a $100 million Rare Impact Fund to fix the gap in mental health services for underserved communities.

28 years old artist and singer Selena Gomez has been open about her mental health issues in 2016 and receiving treatment for the same. Being a solid example of how therapy can cure you inside out, she urges people to talk more about mental health and medicine.

The epidemic has led to chronic loneliness and anxiety among people around the globe, and mental health awareness has become an urgent topic to address nowadays. Rare Beauty has partnered with various mental health advisors from leading universities, organizations and companies and created a Mental Health Council that will guide Rare Beauty with the right strategy to make the maximum impact.

“With the launch of the Rare Impact Fund, we will create one of the largest philanthropic efforts focused on mental health in the world. The funds will go toward increasing access to mental health services, particularly for underserved communities.” – Scott Friedman, CEO of Rare Beauty said in a press release.

Few months before the star mentioned her bipolar disease for the first time on her ‘Bright Minded’ live with Miley Cyrus, she quoted,

“Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in… America, McClean Hospital, and I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar,” Gomez told Cyrus. “And so when I got to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it.”

In 2019 when she received the McLean award for her mental health advocacy, in her opening statement, she mentioned her struggle with anxiety and depression and her not being aware of these feelings. She declared that she wants to use her experience and help others.

Rare beauty by Selena Gomez was launched with a self-affirming mission. The young pop star thought of a powerful message as the brand mission statement ‘Being rare is being comfortable with yourself’ which even pertains to her latest album released in 2020 known as RARE.

We have seen actors, celebrities doing charity shows and contributing to people’s lives who are battling the same fights as them, but it’s rare when someone puts their battle out to inspire people. Rare beauty was born with a purpose to help people and make their journey and battle somewhat less lonely.

Rare beauty is creating a movement and growing popular day by day with a hashtag #rareimpact among people that compiles unique and inspiring stories from all around the world. She often features real people in her marketing campaigns, which resonates more with the audience.

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez is setting an example for everyone to take mental health seriously. The motive relates to the purpose of beauty brands and how they can bring a change. They should start focusing more on creating lifestyles rather than plunging new products, making them feel comfortable with themselves.
